Nature Eternal:  Landscape Photography by Robin Resch

ARTIST STATEMENT

There is so much strength to be garnered from nature.  So much energy and wisdom to be absorbed, witnessed, experienced and learned. Being one with the landscape can be humbling as we realize we are faced with something far greater than ourselves.

In my landscape photography I seek to explore the power of nature and the duality of its ephemerality and continuum.  This work is made in moments of reflection, stillness and contemplation, and tends towards abstraction.  My intention is to create images that resonate emotionally and feel like what it meant to be in a certain moment or place.

Most often it is the force of nature, a crashing stream, rolling fog, and rushing wind, that transforms the subject of the picture;  sometimes,  I intentionally blur the focus, abstracting the landscape in order to evoke the emotive experience of the fleeting moment, that of the landscape as we pass through it — an analogy to the fleeting nature of our own lives and the vulnerability of our planet.

I am fundamentally drawn to the power of water, and especially to oceans and rivers, as they are ever changing, essential and transformative. Fluid and transient, they invite contemplation and offer a profound sense of being.
